This 1977 9¢ Nathan Hale Patriots Postal Card is an Official First Day Cover postmarked in Coventry, Connecticut on October 14, 1977. The green indicium features a classic profile portrait of the Revolutionary War hero with the inscription “Nathan Hale Patriot.”

Nathan Hale (1755–1776) was a Yale-educated schoolmaster who volunteered as a spy for General Washington. Captured by the British on Long Island, he was executed at age 21; his reported last words—“I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country”—made him an enduring symbol of American patriotism.

The left-side cachet presents a detailed oval engraving of Hale against a colonial landscape, surrounded by red, white, and blue borders and the legend “Scholar, Patriot, and Hero of the Revolution.” The cancel ties the indicium cleanly on the first day of issue.

A handsome, well-centered example ideal for collectors of Revolutionary War patriots, American history topicals, or U.S. postal stationery. Fresh and ready for display or album mounting.
