This ArtCraft First Day Cover features the 13¢ U.S. stamp issued May 20, 1977, honoring the 50th anniversary of Charles A. Lindbergh’s historic solo transatlantic flight. The postmark is from Roosevelt Field Station, New York, the departure point for Lindbergh’s 1927 journey.

Lindbergh’s nonstop flight from New York to Paris in the Spirit of St. Louis captured the world’s imagination and proved the viability of long-distance air travel. The 33½-hour flight made him an international hero and accelerated the growth of commercial aviation.

The cachet reproduces a classic photograph of Lindbergh beside his Ryan monoplane along with a stylized globe and the route “New York to Paris May 20-21, 1927.” The stamp design shows the Spirit of St. Louis over the Atlantic at sunrise.

A fine addition for collectors of aviation history, ArtCraft cachets, or U.S. commemoratives from the 1970s, this cover is in excellent condition with a crisp strike and attractive graphics.
