This official 1976 First Day Cover features the 13¢ Sequoyah commemorative stamp issued February 23, 1976, in Washington, DC. The cachet depicts the statue of Sequoyah alongside the Oklahoma state flag and notes the state's admission to the Union as the forty-sixth state in 1907.

Sequoyah (1766–1843), a Cherokee silversmith, teacher, and philosopher, created the Cherokee syllabary, giving his people a written language and advancing literacy within the tribe. The stamp's design incorporates Oklahoma's flag and was released during the U.S. Bicentennial Era (1776–1976).

The cover is marked “Official First Day Cover” and includes the distinctive Bicentennial-era first-day cancel from the nation's capital.

A fine addition for collectors of Native American history, Oklahoma, or Bicentennial-era philately, this cover displays excellent condition with crisp cachet artwork and a clear postmark.
