This is an ArtCraft First Day Cover for the 1970 Stone Mountain Memorial 6¢ stamp, postmarked on the first day of issue, September 19, 1970, in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

The stamp commemorates the colossal Confederate Memorial Carving on Stone Mountain depicting Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson on horseback. The project spanned more than five decades and required an Act of Congress, three different sculptors, and extensive engineering to complete the massive granite tableau.

The cachet features a detailed illustration of the three mounted figures alongside a view of the carved mountainside, with explanatory text noting the 55-year effort and congressional authorization. Two stamps appear on the cover, both tied by the circular Stone Mountain postmark.

A fine addition for collectors of Civil War memorials, ArtCraft cachets, or Georgia postal history, this cover displays fresh color and a clear first-day cancel.
