This is a 1968 6¢ Bennington Flag First Day Cover featuring the Art Craft cachet from the Historic Flags Series. The cover bears the U.S. postage stamp depicting the Bennington Flag and is postmarked Pittsburgh, PA on July 4, 1968, the official first day of issue.

The Bennington Flag, carried by Vermont militia at the Battle of Bennington in 1777, is one of the earliest surviving American Revolutionary banners. General John Stark’s forces used it while defeating British troops under General Burgoyne, a key early victory that boosted colonial morale during the Saratoga campaign.

The striking black-and-white cachet illustrates the battle scene with Continental soldiers and the distinctive flag bearing 13 stars and the numerals “76.” Art Craft’s Historic Flags Series is widely collected for its detailed artwork and historical accuracy.

A fine addition to any Revolutionary War, flag, or Art Craft topical collection, this cover displays excellent condition with a clear Pittsburgh postmark and attractive cachet.
