This 1965 First Day Cover bears the 2¢ Flag and White House stamp cancelled in Medford, Oregon on April 24, 1965. The Southern Oregon Philatelic Society produced the attractive blue-and-yellow cachet promoting the annual Pear Blossom Festival.

Medford has long been the heart of Oregon’s pear industry; the festival, held each spring, celebrates the blooming orchards that blanket the Rogue Valley and draws visitors to witness the spectacular floral display against the backdrop of Mount McLoughlin.

The cachet design cleverly incorporates a large golden pear, dogwood blossoms, and a stylized mountain peak—elements that echo both local agriculture and the dramatic Cascade scenery. A matching hand-stamped “Pear Blossom Festival / Medford, Oregon” label appears on the front.

The cover is addressed to Miss Thelma Allen, P.O. Box 44, Newark, New York—an address that recalls Newark’s own long postal history as a major East Coast mail hub.

A colorful, well-preserved example ideal for collectors of Oregon postal history, festival topicals, or cachets produced by local philatelic societies.
