This Artmaster cachet First Day Cover features the 1965 U.S. Christmas 5¢ stamp honoring the holiday season, postmarked on the official first day of issue, November 2, 1965, in Silver Bell, Arizona.
The stamp design depicts four angels sounding trumpets against a pale background, issued as part of the U.S. Postal Service’s annual Christmas series that began in 1962. In the mid-1960s these colorful holiday issues quickly became favorites among collectors and the general public alike.
The striking red Nativity cachet shows the Holy Family beside the manger with a prominent cross above, signed by Artmaster and inscribed “First Day of Issue.” A block of four stamps appears on the right side, each clearly marked “FIRST DAY OF ISSUE.”
The cover is addressed to Murray Ludmer in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, a small borough in Bergen County that has long been home to many philatelists.
A clean, well-centered example with vivid cachet colors, this 1965 Christmas FDC makes an attractive addition to any holiday or religious topical collection.
