This 1964 Nevada Statehood First Day Cover features a block of four 5¢ stamps issued to mark the centennial of Nevada’s admission to the Union. The Artmaster cachet depicts the Nevada State Capitol building in Carson City along with the Great Seal of the State of Nevada, postmarked on the first day of issue, July 22, 1964.

Nevada entered the Union on October 31, 1864, during the Civil War, its statehood strategically bolstering President Lincoln’s support in Congress and bringing vast silver and gold resources from the Comstock Lode to the Union cause. The stamp’s design highlights Virginia City and the surrounding mining landscape that fueled the young state’s rapid growth.

A notable detail is the cachet’s inclusion of both the capitol illustration and the official state seal, creating a strong thematic link between the artwork and the stamp subject. The cover is addressed to Murray Ludmer in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, a small borough in Bergen County with a long history of philatelic collectors.

In very fine condition with a crisp first-day cancel, this Artmaster-produced FDC makes an attractive addition for collectors of statehood issues, Western history, or Artmaster cachets.
