This 1964 First Day Cover features the 5¢ Charles M. Russell commemorative stamp issued on the 100th anniversary of the famed Western artist’s birth. The Art Craft cachet depicts a statue of Russell alongside one of his iconic paintings of cowboys and Native Americans on horseback, with the official Great Falls, Montana postmark dated March 19, 1964.

Charles M. Russell (1864–1926) was one of America’s most celebrated artists of the Old West. Working as a cowboy in Montana before turning to art full-time, he captured the vanishing frontier with authenticity and vivid detail. His paintings and sculptures remain defining images of American Western heritage.

The stamps themselves reproduce Russell’s dynamic artwork showing mounted cowboys herding cattle across the plains. The cachet’s dual imagery of the artist’s statue and painting makes this an especially attractive example for collectors of art-on-stamps or Western topical covers.

Addressed to a collector in Passaic, New Jersey, the cover remains in clean, collectible condition with clear postmarks and well-centered stamps.

A strong addition for any Western art, Montana, or Art Craft FDC collection.
