This 1963 Art Craft cacheted First Day Cover features the 5¢ Food for Peace stamp issued June 4, 1963, in Washington, DC. The stamp depicts a golden sheaf of wheat against a green background with the slogans “Food for Peace” and “Freedom from Hunger.” The postmark clearly reads “Washington, D.C. Jun 4 9-AM 1963.”

The cover commemorates the World Food Congress held in Washington that year, part of the global Freedom from Hunger campaign launched by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. The era saw heightened international focus on agricultural development and relief efforts amid Cold War-era food aid programs.

A notable detail is the large circular vignette showing children receiving food aid, flanked by the Art Craft imprint and “Food for Peace” banner. The design ties the stamp directly to the concurrent World Food Congress.

Addressed to Mr. Merton D. Bradley in Bloomfield, Connecticut, the cover reflects typical collector mailings of the period.

A clean, well-centered example with a sharp Washington, DC first-day cancel, this FDC makes an attractive addition for topical collectors of humanitarian issues, agriculture, or Art Craft cachets.
